Shared Storage Expansion

When investing in a shared storage system, it is common to wonder how easy it is to add more storage to the system as additional capacity is needed. All EditShare storage systems allow you to expand with virtually no limit. Here is a summary of expansion options:

  • Field. You can add one Expansion Chassis (with up to 24TB of raw storage) to any EditShare Field server. In addition, multiple EditShare storage servers can be added and easily administered together via EditShare's Extreme Scalable Architecture (ESA)
    .
  • XStream ST. While there is no Expansion Chassis option for XStream ST, you can add additional EditShare storage servers and easily administer them from a common administrator interface via EditShare's Extreme Scalable Architecture (ESA).

  • XStream HT. You can add up to four Expansion Chassis (up to 96TB of raw storage per chassis) to any EditShare XStream HT server. In addition, multiple EditShare storage servers can be added and easily administered together via EditShare's Extreme Scalable Architecture (ESA)

  • XStream EFS. Expanding an XStream EFS system is as simple as adding a new node and clicking a few buttons on a web page. In the background, pieces of data are immediately re-distributed until each node has roughly the same amount of free space. During the rebalancing process, the EFS system is fully usable, and when the expansion operation completes, your system is bigger and faster than ever before. A single system is scalable to many petabytes and hundreds of millions of files.
